ABOUT AKYC

Al-Khaadem Youth Camp (AKYC) is a platform where youth from various background and ages congregate in a week-long action-packed camp which builds knowledge, faith and courage. AKYC also serves as fertile ground for youth to experience the beauty and peace of an authentic Islamic environment rooted in the religion’s universal values.

Youth will be exposed to the ease of practising Islam and its beautiful akhlak and mannerisms modelled on the Prophet (SAW), and this insha Allah will mould the attractive personality of a Muslim Youth fitted for the 21st century.

THIS YEAR’S THEME

As Muslims, we must first understand why Islam was revealed to us. What better way to truly understand the teachings of Islam than to learn from the people who lived with the Prophet (pbuh). They were his Companions, the first generation, khayr ummah – the Best of Men.

This year’s camp will unravel many lessons that can become the blueprint for the model Muslim:

  • Learn why the Prophet (pbuh) commanded us to follow his guidance and the guidance of the Companions.
  • Discover how the Prophet (pbuh) and his Companions kept their composure when faced with adversity.
  • Learn how they possessed excellence in leadership and character and became exemplary followers that brought about the greatness of Islam to this day.
  • Emulate the admirable traits the Companions had such as obedience, honesty, responsibility, patience, wisdom, courage and attentiveness.
  • Ultimately, extract the stellar lessons from each of the stories of the Companions and apply them to our daily lives to impact our family and the community positivley.

ENGAGE IN EDIFYING DISCUSSIONS

At AKYC, we encourage participants to speak up, get involved and embolden themselves to engage with our speakers.

LEADERSHIP & CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

Participants will be exposed to the spirit of leadership by being a good listener and achieve teamwork by being a good follower. Each activity is designed to promote effective communication skills when dealing with team members of different personalities and characters.

DAY-TO-DAY ROUTINE

Monitored and facilitated by our trainers, we help every participant adopt positive daily adab rooted in the Islamic ethos such as punctuality in performing the salah, praying in jama’ah, care for the environment, cleanliness, hygiene, collective responsibility towards one another, and instil in them these values as a way of life long after the camp ends.
